{"id":846,"date":"2024-05-20T21:26:00","date_gmt":"2024-05-20T21:26:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sukiwessling.com\/kidblog\/?p=846"},"modified":"2024-05-20T21:26:02","modified_gmt":"2024-05-20T21:26:02","slug":"process-not-product","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sukiwessling.com\/kidblog\/process-not-product\/","title":{"rendered":"Process, not product"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In our world, there&rsquo;s a lot of emphasis on the <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">end goal<\/span><\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>We have to <strong>take tests<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We have to <strong>turn in projects<\/strong> and present them<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We have to show that we&rsquo;ve <strong>read<\/strong> a certain number of pages, <strong>written<\/strong> a certain number of words, or <strong>memorized<\/strong> a certain amount of information<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>All of these are examples of &ldquo;products&rdquo; of our learning, and they can be important.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But even more important is your learning &ldquo;process.&rdquo;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Process is the actual experience<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Unlike the product, like a test, the process has to do with actually being in the middle of something. Although you will probably have to pass tests in your math classes, you will spend much more time learning with your teacher and other students. That&rsquo;s the process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Process changes your brain<\/h3>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\">\n<figure class=\"alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"512\" src=\"http:\/\/sukiwessling.com\/kidblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/messybaby-768x512.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-302\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sukiwessling.com\/kidblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/messybaby-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/sukiwessling.com\/kidblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/messybaby-768x512-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Babies totally understand process, but then adults start telling kids to focus on the product and we forget how to have fun with our learning!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Whether you&rsquo;re learning a new gymnastics move or studying physics, the process of learning has to do with growing connections in your brain. If you stop focusing on product (<em>oh, no, I&rsquo;ll never pass that math test!<\/em>) and start focusing on process (<em>OK, this is a whole, new weird concept to me<\/em>) you&rsquo;ll be happier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And <a href=\"http:\/\/sukiwessling.com\/kidblog\/what-happens-when-you-get-stressed-out\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">people who are happier learn more<\/a>.
